Thursday

Thirty one years since Lennon was murdered.

I didn’t have to “snuff the rooster” today, he didn’t wake me until six thirty which is ok, I woke up with a bit of ABC news – I see that kid from Bali got back to Oz, I’m curious how that happened, the Balinese authorities would have had to have lost some face.

Off to breakfast and some WWF, Greg turned up.
This camper was parked across the road from my breakfast place, a Swiss guy built it, drove it for nine months from Switzerland to India where he picked up his American girlfriend (of course she would have had trouble in some of the Middle East Countries) and now they are driving around Asia before heading to Australia next year.

I found this sports centre where there is a huge tournament going on this week with teams from all over the country, it's basically volleyball but with your feet, some of the high kicks were amazing.
I headed up the hill to see if I could find some of my monk friends but they were not around, must’ve been in class so I decided to explore the east side of town and walked for a couple of hours, finding many more temples along the way.
This is the same photo from "Buddha's footprint" from a month ago except for the sandbars in the foreground, the river is getting lower.
Lots of impressive Stupas and the main street fountain.
I had lunch at a street stall then decided on another massage after a shower from the mornings sweat.

After the massage I went back to my room for a nap and woke in time to head down to Dons bar for sunset photos but there were not even any colours tonight. Like the photo of the river from this morning, these sandbars were not here a month ago.
I went to the night food stalls again and chatted to a nice young Aussie couple over dinner, walked through the markets and got an ice cream. I think I may get bored if I stay here for another week so I walk past a tour agent with a sign saying “mini van seat for Vang Vieng tomorrow” and I take it as a sign - so I bought the ticket.

It was so beautiful and relaxing down there I will go down for a couple of days then come back here and have four days to wind down before the return to Vietnam.
