Maybe One More Day.............

Slept in to nine which was nice. Had breakfast then started getting quotes to get from here back to Laung Prabang. Had a coffee in a movie bar and got stuck watching the movie but made a decision and it’s all sorted out now.

I’m leaving here Tuesday morning (at eleven in the morning instead of the usual eight, so that’s cool I can still sleep in and pack). No real plans, I’ve just been here long enough so time to move on.
Laung Prabang is a short easy flight back to Vietnam and it will be good to go back and see some of my monk friends and Greg.

From there I could also try an overland border crossing in the north near Sapa, then I get to see more of Laos and could spend a couple of days in Sapa before hitting Hanoi. Then again I might fly into Da Nang and spend some time with my Friend Mr Hoa and his family…………I’ll see what the universe tells me when I start travelling again.

I went for Indian for a late lunch and some reading………the book is nearly finished, be good to finish it before I leave. I was distracted by some tubers reaching the end of thier day.
I wandered down to Mani’s Sunset Bar for a swim and a couple of Lao Lao Mojitos, I bumped into Manuela and Nadia who just arrived today, we chatted for a bit then went our ways, I’ll see them when they’re less weary.
And so of course, the obligatory sunset photos....
I went back to my room to shower and change and went to Streetview where Cedric turned up, I was wandering when he’d show up, I hadn’t seen him all day. Turns out he spent the day in bed with a hangover, seems he stopped at Pai in Lao Bar on the way home last night……………

I went back to my room and avoided the lure of the movie bars which would mean more vodka…………..apart from being exactly three months since I left Australia this is officially the longest I have lived without access to TV in my life, it’s been thirteen days - not that i'm counting, except for about maybe ten movies at Rouges, but actual TV.

I have movies and TV shows on my harddrive and I can access stuff on the net but the point, surprising to me and probably some of you that know me, I’m not missing it. I’m not even looking up headlines, it’s been such an escape.

Don Det, while easily habital for a tourist still has limited wifi access and only one movie bar in town, everything is closed at eleven except one late night bar down the sunset side and one down the sunrise side (they’re both about one kilometre either side of me) provides an ability to sit somewhere not surrounded by people on their phones or laptops – alternatively where a bar has strong wifi – you just see people playing on their various devices with their Facebook or whatever as the sun is setting over the Mekong in the background, hilarious.
