Went for a walk along the waterfront.
Did some reading over a fruit shake at Full Moon café. Went for a massage.
I did some research at a few tour operators about flight prices to Pakse, the main town in the south. I figure for a hundred or so dollars it has to be worth the three day recovery of a twelve hour overnight bus ride.
The hammer and sickle waving next to the Laos flag.
Had lunch at Bor Pen Nyang then grabbed some shopping for my onwards journey in hope that my Vietnamese VISA is approved and I get my passport back this afternoon so I can book a flight for tomorrow.
I have a mid afternoon nap and check at reception at four thirty as promised but my passport has still not come back. I cannot miss the sunset, it may be last one here so I head off to Bor Pen Nyang for a quick beer and some photos.
I rush back at five thirty and my passport has arrived! So I frantically try to find a tour operator still open, I’m in luck! However the flights for the next three days are booked out……Argh! Looks like I’m going to have to take a sleeper bus tomorrow night, I can’t stay in Vientiane any longer. But thanks for the shooting range tip Miss Sam, that’ll give me something to do tomorrow.
I head down the street for dinner and stumble into the night food stalls on the grounds of one of the temples, it’s kind of like Laung Prabang but the tables are spread out here whereas in Laung Prabang you were forced to squeeze in next to a stranger and that’s how I met most people up there, no such luck tonight but an awesome feed, there was sticky rice so I went straight back to my room to down some antacid.
