Greg knocks on my door at seven thirty, he is a bit lonely without Peng, she is arriving at midday today. We head out for breakfast and to look for a new room for me, my current one is booked for the next few days but I’m excited at the thought of a change.
After an hour of looking around I find a great room, it is about thirty metres from the Mekong and I can even see a small part of it from my bed through the river. TV, air-conditioning, bathroom, wifi and very clean for fifteen dollars, jackpot!
That is the Mekong from my balcony betwen the trees.
Sacrilege, standing in Buddha's footprint.
Greg heads off to sort out a room for him and Peng while I head up the hill to talk to whatever novice monks are around. Today I meet one called Khoumpha. We talk for an hour or so but then he needs to get to his temple before midday for lunch. I head back down to the street and order some pasta and meet two Aussie girls who have just arrived but are leaving up the river tonight to see the gibbon sanctuary.
I head back to my new room for some air-conditioning and to finish updating the blog as well as catch up with some overdue emails. I was hoping to get a nap but my sunset bar was full yesterday so I head down there at four to ensure I get a good seat.
Sunsets...........
After a couple of hours of wonderful sunset Greg and Peng turn up and are keen to go back to the Aussie bar, Greg wants the parmigiana and I insist that Peng has a meat pie, I have the fish and chips.
A suggesstion box for the police, i wonder if it is ever taken seriously.
Again I am tired and bloated so I leave them to wander the markets while I head back to my room for a movie and an early night.
