I woke at five with the first rooster call so I thought I’d take advantage and headed out to take some photos, according to my iPhone compass the sun will come up across the river.
I stopped by the temple for a thank you to “O beautiful one” and took about five million photos of the pre sunrise and the sun rise itself so I'm going to bore you with a heap of them now.
Phil and I had agreed to meet at eight at the restaurant where a boatman was going to take us to another island, this one seems fairly quiet, for honeymooners or retirees so I packed and checked out.
We got taken down to the dock and about fifteen of us got in a boat and motored off.
We arrive at Don Ket, this is more like it! There is bars and shops and even wifi, looks like a good place to chill for a week or two.
Phil and I ended up finding different places. I’ve got air-conditioning, big soft double bed, good toilet and small view of the river.
My back was pretty sore so I went for a massage, one of the better ones I’ve had, feeling much better now. I think I’ll be here for a while and a bit tired so I have lunch and crash out for the afternoon.
I head out late afternoon to meet Phil at “The Streetview Hotel” run by an Australian guy who was going to rent us a couple of motorbikes for tomorrow. Walking down the street I bumped into Donatella the Italian lady from Bor Pen Nyang in Vientiane . We walked back to her place to drop off her computer then headed up to meet Phil. Acho, Donatella’s neighbour came with us, a a very cool South American guy.
We arranged to meet at The Streetview at eight in the morning for the bike ride. Donatella was keen to go to another bar for the six to eight happy hour and man what a place, dreadlocks everywhere and a DJ and it all got a bit blurry from there.
We ended up leaving and going to another bar until closing where I met a nice European girl who’s name I can’t remember. There had been a random police raid the day before we arrived just checking local paperwork - bar licences, Visas, mainly just for the locals the cops don’t apparently concern themselves with the tourists. So, on their best behaviour the bar kicked us out about eleven, official closing time.
Donatella disappeared down the road she is staying in and I walked nameless girl back to her hotel which just so happened to be right opposite to mine. I passed out fairly well for a good sleep.
