Wednesday

Today started with a phone call at nine from Dan to come and pick him up from hospital through yet another hangover. I head over there to collect him, he has chronic rheumatoid arthritis and had an attack early this morning, rushed to the hospital and passed out from the pain when he got there. So I helped him walk out when he was released by the doctors, he has had three hits of morphine so he’s a bit wobbly.

We stop at a nice café for breakfast then head back to the block. He has a job interview today so he goes to get ready for that and I go back to the Blue River for a shower and head out to say some farewells. I went to the GO2 and said farewell to Doyen.

I’ve arranged for a farewell beer with Simon at Santa café, I meet him there about six. It turns into a few drinks and a few laughs. I get to say farewell and have a few beers with Simon, Tom and Dan. Without going into detail, watching my mouth after a few beers for the last six weeks something extremely stupid slips out of my mouth and may have blown my friendship with Simon………….

This was taken before my slip of the tounge as a joke but somehow appropriate as my last picture of Simon.

Everyone heads off, Dan has gone to the GO2 and txt me to join him, I go for one drink but I’m not in the mood anymore so I head home feeling sad and stupid for letting one stupid little thing slip out of my mouth and maybe ruining my friendship with a really decent guy. 

Tomorrow at this time, I will be in Laos.
