Arrival

I flew in to Ho Chi Minh City today after as comfortable an eight hour flight anyone six feet tall can have travelling in cattle class, i did catch up on some movies though. Customs was a fairly quick process and I was out the front of the airport smoking that first cigarette in no time. I took a taxi to the Blue River Hotel in district one and checked in and was sitting at a bar on the side of the street with battered prawns and a Heiniken before sundown, smiling at the million and one motorbikes that passed with their usual “beep beep”. The humidity and heat were quite bearable but I was oblivious to most of my surrounds with an ear to ear grin at being back here as the reality set in, I was back in Vietnam, for an extended amount of time now. It is Tuesday and I just received an email telling me my first English teaching class is Saturday, I must acquire clothes and get a haircut before I start, not to mention find out just where the heck the school is! After another bar and another beer, although it was only about 8pm I was fairly tired and headed back to the Blue River to rest up for tomorrows shopping spree.
